CephFS and Samba can be combined to provide a highly scalable filesystem which can be accessed from SMB clients such as Windows and macOS.
This talk will look at Samba clustering features under development, which aim to provide improved availability and performance, with a focus on:
- RADOS key-value storage as an alternative to CTDB
- fast Client failover with Witness Protocol

Samuel Cabrero is a Samba developer at SUSE since 2017, where he is working to achieve transparent client failover for Samba clusters using Ceph backend. Before joining SUSE Samuel worked in embedded Linux BSP development and in the startup Zentyal.

Senior Software Engineer, SUSE
David works in the SUSE Enterprise Storage team, where he is primarily focused on iSCSI and Samba gateway development for Ceph. David is an experienced public speaker, presenting at Free and Open Source Software events such as FOSDEM, SambaXP, Ceph Days and more.
